The Best Concert

One of the best concerts that I’ve ever attended was the Lil Wayne concert back in June of 2008. OMG it was so much fun. I went with two of my friends, and my then 14-year-old brother. The concert was held at the 1st Mariner arena in downtown Baltimore City. They were promoting the concert everywhere, at my high school everyone was talking about the concert, and how much they wanted to go, but I knew that I was going because I love Lil Wayne he is like my favorite rapper of all time. I first heard about the concert on the local radio station 92Q. The announcement was getting me so pumped up, and excited about the upcoming concert. Once June was there I was really getting excited and driving downtown was so hectic with people driving crazy, people holding up signs promoting the concert, banners, Lil Wayne music playing, etc. When I finally pulled up in front of the arena there was a big tour bus in front of us with Lil Wayne’s face on the side of it. Once I got inside of the arena there were venders selling t-shirts, sweaters, posters, pictures, earrings, necklaces, anything that you could imagine with Lil Wayne’s face on it. I think that they did a good job of promoting the products, and selling them, because if you are a fan you would buy that stuff just to say that you have it, and to show how much of a fan you really are. They definitely suckered me in because I bought a t-shirt, and a poster.

A Little Bit To Much

A movie that I have watched that showed a lot of product placing was the movie “Josie and the pussycats”(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvvHbwWzV7o) which came out in 2001 staring Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, and Rosario Dawson. This movie was about three friends who were trying to start their own band, but no one would listen to their music. But one day they get discovered by a manager who plans to get them started and sell them all over the world. Everything was going fine at first until Wyatt their manager plans to kill of  Melody (Rosario Dawson), and Valerie ( Tara Reid) to just work with Josie. Later Josie discovers that Wyatt was placing subliminal messages underneath their music which was making everyone obsessed with the pussycats.

Through out the movie there was a lot of product placement. In the beginning of the movie there was a boy band who called themselves Du Jour were in their private jet, and throughout the jet you could see products like Dawn dish cleaner, Bounce fabric softener, Coca Cola, Doritos, and the Target symbol. Also later on in the movie when Josie, Melody, and Valerie were in their own separate rooms there was a lot of product placing. Josie’s room was a L’Oreal themed room which had a lot of makeup and glimmer, and shimmer. The room also had big pictures of lips posted up on the walls. In Melody’s room there was a Target theme which had a lot of bullseye around the room, and the room was white, and red. Lastly in Valerie’s room there was a McDonald’s theme. Which there were the golden arches around the room. The colors were yellow, red, and white, and when she was taking a shower she was using a french fry sponge, then the changed and used a big mac sponge.

The products that I think were most memorable were the Target symbols, and the McDonald’s theme room. The reason why I think that they were most memorable is because kids love McDonald’s, and when they saw the movie they probably got their parents to take them to McDonald’s so in a way it kind of promoted the movie. It’s also similar to subliminal messages, because this movie was mostly a kids movie even though some of the things they were saying were inappropriate. If a child saw the girl showering with all this McDonald’s stuff, them maybe they will think that they have to eat McDonald’s too in order to be beautiful like Valerie. Or they will just want McDonald’s stuff because they see it. The Target sign was also memorable because it stood out. There were all white walls with a big bright red bullseye, so it just stands out to me.

Papa… Papa… Paparazzi

There have been many celebrities who have filed lawsuits against the paparazzi for endangering them, or their friends and family. Of course many of these celebrities have ever won their case, because the judge always believes that the celebrity wanted attention, so they put themselves in that situation of having million of people follow them everyday. There are no laws against the paparazzi following celebrities and taking their pictures for their fans to see. Also the paparazzi aren’t paying the celebrities to take their pictures and publish them.

But now all of this is changing, and the first state that will have a law against the paparazzi would be California. Arnold Schwarzenegger the Governor has signed a measure into the California law allowing civil lawsuits against media outlets that commission or publish photos illegally. With this new law the paparazzi could be fined as much as $50,000 for violating the law.

California is one of the only states that will be adopting this law. They already have a law that makes photographers subject to legal action if they trespass on a celebrities private property. The law also states that the paparazzi may not photograph a celebrity who has a ” reasonable expectation of privacy’.

I couldn’t agree with the new law more, because celebrities, as well as innocent bystanders are getting hurt because the paparazzi wants to get that famous shot. Take the Princess Diana cas for example, I elieve that she still would have been alive if it weren’t for the paparazzi trying to chase her down. They need to know when to stop, because they are actually trampling over people in the streets, they are racing in their vechiles to try to catch up with a celebrity. I mean I know that celebrities love attention, and they like to take photographs, so the paparazzi should do it when they say that it’s okay. But when a celebrity has their hands up saying “stop” or ” no more pictures” then the paparazzi needs to know when to stop and back off.

” Spin the bottle ” Reaction Video

All I can say is WOW!!!!! I mean are college students really like this? Maybe it’s a good thing that I’m not on campus, because I would be terrified to be around a bunch of 18 and 19 year olds who are just out of control.I couldn’t believe that one of the girl’s in the video was saying that she drinks because guys will be more attracted to her, and that guys like girls who drink. I disagree with this, because guys a lot of guys like girls who drink so that they can see how crazy they act, and sometimes they like to see them drink so they can get drunk and take advantage of them. But most guys actually find it unattractive that girls drink, or maybe it’s just the guys that I know… I can’t even sit here and say that I’ve never had an alcoholic drink before, and I’m only 19, but I’ve never been drunk before, and I’ve always been aware of my surroundings. I understand that some college kids drink because college is so stressful, and trust me I know because every other week I’m stressed about some test that’s coming up, but still that’s not an excuse for me to get drunk, and pass out in the bushes. The kids in the video I believe were doing it because of peer pressure, to seem like they are cool and apart of the group, and also because they are just mimicking what they see on television, and in alcohol ads. I’m curious about the question that one of the guys in the video said… ” What if there were ads showing people doing drugs such as heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, or crack “?
